Etihad takes position in Aer Lingus

The Irish Times is reporting that Etihad is quietly buying up Aer Lingus stock - following on from the earlier partnership discussions.

The current EY management will probably not be there anymore when someone needs to clean up this strategic mess ... (Air Berlin, Air Seychelles, Aer Lingus, ...)

Anyone thinking this might be the start of some kind of new alliance .... Etihad, Aer Lingus , air Berlin and throw in a few more , who knows

Merger , don't think that was mentioned nor is legally possible , anyway EY are not exactly weak , EI are profitable again and doing quite well or so we are told , not too sure about AB but they now have a strong backer in EY , and if B6 became involved that would pretty much cover all continents , think it might actually be stronger than people think
