Will be 4X-EAN and named "Bat Yam".
Beat em up as much as u want, but this one actually makes sense (short-term) instead of continuing to lease a/c all over the place. Chances are 60-40 at this point they'll also pick up another 738, but things have yet to settle around that one.

Why does it make sense to acquire yet another old and outdated aircraft that will need constant heavy maintenance?
They should be getting rid of the 767s as fast as possible with 787s and if they must have a frame right now and can't wait for the 787s, lease a newer plane for the short-term. Or get A330s if Boeing can't actually fill all their needs

they opened the BOS route and are evaluating others, so they need an a/c to make it happen. has to be one currently in their fleet because of maintenance, training etc. If the bird is in decent condition, it makes sense for them, especially if you consider they probably got it at a bargain price. However, this obviously sucks for pax as they get yet another crammed and worn 767 with no IFE for 7-9 hour flights.
Airbus is never gonna happen in El Al, and even more definitely not as a short-term solution to bridge a gap. Makes no sense whatsoever maintenance, equipment and training wise. Maybe if they had gone for the a350 instead of 787 and acquired 15 of them... but not in the current scenario
