New "bed like" seats on flights to JFK???

I'm in the KDL in TLV.
There is a big advertisement: soon, New "bed like" seats on flights to JFK.
They also have two seats in the lounge BUT they look exactly like the old seats only with a diffarent color...
And why only JFK?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 7_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/537.51.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Mobile/11A465 Safari/9537.53)

Maybe that's the launch route for a new C product?

Anyway, I gather from what you're saying that their "new" product might just be the very same seat but fully flat?

Doesn't sound too promising I must say...

How much do these seats actually cost? I can't imagine more than $1k when they are sold in bulk to airlines.

Over $10k

Still marginal compared to the revenue from the tickets, just an utter lack of management.

Both EL AL F and J are pitiful in terms of hard product... I don't know how they have gotten away with these for so long.

I was told yesterday that by the LY rep when I changed my booking from JFK that the UD now has two seats less and the seats have been changed to fully flat.

Very odd that they haven't announced it, but then while any change for the better is welcome, this is hardly breaking news...

If true, this is classic LY. Make big announcements about stupidity and when a big announcement is necessary, we hear nothing

Not sure how big an announcement it is Josh. As clubman notes, hardly breaking news if it's the same seat but flatter. Sure it will hopefully improve sleep quality which is important but it's not enough to change the overall sentiment towards LY's business class product.

I will be trying it in May and will post an update if no one else does before then.

If it's a new seat, then that is indeed a big announcement. Think about how every American airline announces new seats. Even UA, when switching from a 180 degree lie-flat in F to a newer version had a major campaign to announce the new seats. When BA updated WT+, they posted on FT and displayed ads on ba.com. If LY is upgrading their seats, I would've expected an announcement of some sort.
Not sure how it would be the same seat but flatter (or why they would do that)
