Finding Places to Eat Near the Hotel Before You Travel

Man you all put a lot of effort into this. If I'm staying at a hotel with life around it, I just start walking and go into a place that looks interesting. If I'm in the 'burbs, I'll do a quick google map search for food nearby and peruse a couple of restaurant websites to get an idea of what's there, then drive over.
Worst case scenario is I have a crappy meal. But it's not worth spending hours and hours ahead of my time to avoid it.
