Delta Sky Club Membership Cannot purchase with miles and promotion

Greetings FT,

I wanted to purchase a new Skyclub membership with miles this year. I figured that since the promotion came along it would only give me more incentive to purchase the membership.

Well when purchasing a skyclub membership using the promotion code HPMQM for the 1500 MQM it will not allow you to purchase with miles only a credit card.

For Reference

https://www.delta.com/traveling_chec...fees/index.jsp

https://www.delta.com/traveling_chec...omos/index.jsp

Nothing in the terms and conditions says that this is not allowed.

What's FT's recommendation on how to handle this?

This is pretty typical of promotions for SC membership. I've never been able to enter a promo code and still pay with miles, only cash.

And, IIRC, you can't use E-certs either.

Good luck. SC membership from SM account is treated as a SM redemption.

I tried to use E-certs that last time I renewed my membership. Was told by multiple sources that E-certs can only be used for air travel.

E-certs are OK as payoffs for poor service. But never let DL convince you to give you a refund in the form of an E-cert.

E-certs expire. A refund to your credit card does not.

I also pay, every year, for my SkyClub membership with miles and am never able to take advantage of the promotions out there. It's just life.

Um, off-topic much? Please find another place to rant/bash.

Still hankerin' to clean up this town, marshall?

Can anyone help out here? Is there a link on FT for would-be Moderators to apply to formalize their status?

Please tell us how this went. I'm in the same boat ready to renew and SC membership seems one of the only practical uses for skypesos.

The Platinum medallion desk offered zero resolution on this and could not confirm or deny.

Going to try to do it directly at the skyclub to see if they will honor the promotion

I'm pretty certain that the SkyClubs are treated as a separate entity and that RES agents have no real knowledge of SC policies and payment options. All they can likely do is recite what they see online or in their information bank. They cant sell Skyclub passes or memberships so a RES agent (even DM or PM desk) would not be the person to go to. Your best bet is going to be to go to a Skyclub and ask an agent at the front. If you don't like the answer, want an explanation or reassurance, speak with the supervisor or manager of the Skyclub.

Hopefully this could help when you call (noted on bottom of MQM offer page):

Promotional Reference Code: Please refer Delta customer service representative to 970625.

I'm interested too; please let us know what happens.

Actually there is. Read closely and you'll see these words...

Mileage redemption is not an option.

We missed that at the get-go of this thread.

Amazing what one sees when they actually read the fine print!
