Can you book the transfer without the DL service?

My own personal line in the sand: I'd pay $400 for me and my wife to take the 5 minute helo ride from Midtown to JFK, but not an extra $250 for this:

Upon touchdown, a member of Delta's Elite Services team will welcome the customer, collect baggage and personally escort them from the helicopter via awaiting ground transportation to the departure terminal, expediting security clearance as they head to their departing aircraft. When it's time for the Delta flight, the customer is escorted to their seat on board.

Ew - I thought the price of the transfer would be inclusive of the DL service as a way to drive usage of Blade and to drive high value customers to DL. I watch the choppers take off at 34th St. all day long from the office and want to try this at some point. But I think my personal cap is more around $150 total.

On another note, do you think you get the 7 MQM for this ride?

Isn't there a minimum of 500 MQM for any trip?

Yeah, but you could in theory qualify for Diamond on segments in under 12 hours.

IIRC, last time they tried this you cleared security before getting on the chopper and so arrived airside at JFK. I guess that's not the case this time?

Via the Blade App, available on iPhone, and probably Android

Correct. Hence the section in the article cited above mentioning expedited security clearance.

The $250 charge is a lot of BS. Most people paying $ already have TSA PRE, GLOBAL ENTRY, ETC so all that $250 is paying for is to be cleared at Signature and for a ride to the gate in a car. People will use it but it's excessive IMO.

None of this is targeted at anyone who has any sort of real world budget. This is targeted for those who have $400+ dinners and don't even think about it. People who anything less than 5 figures is basically an incidental purchase...of which there are plenty in Manhattan.

From my reading (I've never used the service) the standard Blade service already includes ground transportation to the terminal. For people with Precheck, is Delta really only offering an escort and a fancier car?

Since this is using an existing service (versus PAA's fleet of choppers, for example), I suspect this is a halo offering and not something Delta expects to have wide applicability.

I think I might not be the target market for this. My idea of luxury is taking the LIRR to Jamaica instead of the E train.

To really be stylin' on the LIRR, you have to sit in one of the center seat groups with your feet on the facing seats while reading the Post and drinking a tall boy in a paper bag. Don't forget to leave the paper and the can with a little backwash on the seat when you leave.
