I have *never* heard this announcement.. I've heard the "please use the lavatories in your cabin", but never the prohibition on moving between cabins.

I regularly take laps around the plane front to back to front (to upper deck if there is one) when I sit in D1 on long haul flights... Nobody has ever told me to stop yet.

This was strictly upheld in the years after 9/11 but now enforcement is spotty.

OP, my suggestion would be to go to the airport early and just be honest and ask. If you get a reasonable person who is empowered to make an exception, then you'll get the exception. This way you won't be breaking any rules and you *might* be able to avoid the fee. A really nice agent will see the situation, tag your 12 year old as a UM, and waive the fee knowing that the child is actually not unaccompanied (meaning that if there are any real issues with the child, or if there are IRROPS, the minor will be cared for by legal guardians not the airline).

I see the $150 fee being mostly for the escorts to take the UM from the ticket counter to the gate and from the plane to baggage, etc. These kids won't need any of that extra assistance that adds to the payroll.
And now you are telling me the kid needs an escort....I thought escorts were illegal execept for certain counties in Nevada in the USA.

Is this true? (I have no idea). If so, problem solved for the OP...

And help myself to multiple packages of brownie brittle and biscoffs in the galley. That will show delta for upgrading me out of my comfy exit row seat.

There ya go!!!

Also, I added the word "Medallion" to my post above, so it reads:

Complimentary MEDALLION Upgrade to a C+ middle seat . . . .

To show how valuable the Medallion program, truly is!

Sorry to get OT.

I've been stopped from strolling around the plane, often at the point of re-entering BE but not always. I was severely scolded for trying to take a peek into the upper deck when I had a lower deck BE seat.....the FA wouldn't even let me go halfway up the stairs to see the new cabin configuration without coming close to setting foot on that upper deck.

Similarly LH and SQ among others won't let you look into FC if you have business class tickets, even on the ground.

Didn't you show the FA your "Ft Legend" ID credentials?

A number of times I have explained that I chat in an online travel chat forum, and that I'm planning to post a particular story.

On an AF A380 in J. Asked the FA if I could peek at the La Premiere cabin during boarding and was strictly told no. I explained that I really liked planes, and she said I could walk through after the flight, but only if I waited until all P passengers had deplaned.

As there was only one passenger in P that flight, I was allowed to poke in and snap a few pics on my way off the plane.

Not saying the OP is like this, just saying that DL has no way of knowing ahead of time if Parents would be like this.
well, if they're like this, does it really matter if they're in the same cabin or not?
