"Fare Change" page?
Searched @ google flights, redirected to Delta.com
shown the exact route, time, price
after submit purchase
Delta told you fare changed to $xxx
But the fare is still there on google.
Especially when you search multi-city.
Why is delta doing this?

Tried Orbitz.
Be able to find the same fare, but cannot finish purchase.
Been told fare not available any more.

I've seen it quite a bit, especially when it's a deal. Could just be that the fare basis changed, or that inventory sold out. You may have luck getting an OTA to ticket it. Try multiple ones if you have time. Failing that, you're probably out of luck.

This is Google's fault, not Delta's. Google doesn't do a "live" search when you search -- it caches data points from previous searches to give you quick, but possibly outdated, results. Delta.com is the definitive word on what the prices are.
Kayak may be a better price comparison option, as it actually runs a live search on various other sites when you put in your request, so the prices should be up to date (although Kayak does search some other search engines, like Vayama and such, which themselves may not be up to date, so you can still run into this problem).

It is still Delta's problem. They present an exact "Trip Summary" page to you and you can click continue without any issue.

OP, here's what you do:
1. Call DL and demand the fare you get when you search. You may have to play agent roulette. Don't pay a phone ticketing fee.
2. If after about 3 agents you cannot get one to give you the quotes fare, complain to DOT.
