Just scored a $107 (All in per passenger round trip) post-purchase upgrade to First Class, on a V fare!! MSP to FLL round trip.

Good for you. I generally pass on these "opportunities", but I would have grabbed this one in a heartbeat.

Congratulations you just paid 107 dollars for 30 dollars worth of service and product. You must be proud.

YMMV. For me, $107 to avoid 7 hours in a Y seat is money well spent.

This.

Back in the day I bought lots of paid F on DL and NW, and still do when I find a decent A or G fare. For me, $107 RT for that flight would be a no-brainer.

as a kettle it would seem a good deal but seeing it is a 757 with 7 rows and even March break has lots of seats it looks like an easy UG even for FO

No upgrades are easy ever for FO ex-MSP, especially on popular leisure routes. We do this route frequently and my travel companion is FO and he is almost always like #18 or higher on the UG list. Never once gotten an upgrade to or from FLL, LAS, DTW.

Of course, how dare Delta sell first class seats for $54 each way rather than to give it to a DM for free??

Glad for the OP, but how does this make DL $$, given that the OP has no status and may have bags to check? I fail to see how this is so lucrative...

Maybe a bait and switch approach? Give them First for very cheap, so that the customer will come back and book more tickets in the hope of snagging more cheap FCM. Invest a little to create future revenue.
