I flew this route 6 times (6 segments) in 2014 and was upgraded on 3 segments. Delta sells out the morning flights in either direction on most weekdays so I don't think they are likely to release RUC inventory (at least on weekdays). Maybe this would be different on a Saturday or low business holiday periods.
I learned that there is no point in applying the RUC in advance on this route. It is best to wait until a few hours before the fight and see where you are for a BFUG. I ended up upgraded once when there were a few seats without the RUC and I was no. 1 anyway as a Diamond. But, I also used two RUCs to move up to no. 1 the other two times and lucked out with a no show in one case and one seat available in the other case.
I also managed to move up to No. 1 or No. 2 on the flights I did not get upgraded on with a RUC and sat next to the other Diamond one time who was No. 1 with a RUC and did not get upgraded.
In my experience even with a RUC it is 50/50 at best on this route.
Good luck.

I chose these and have been really mixed with them.
First use was sea to atl on an internationally configured 767. I Used an ruc on it 50 days out and it didn't clear until the gate. It also took 3 calls at t-24 to get it recoded correctly. I went to #1 on the list for 3 seats and I would have normally been 16. Hallway thru boarding the computer system crashed. The cert never ended up being used because of the system crash.
Second time was atl to sea on another internationally configured 67. Sdc at t-24 and then used the ruc. Worked flawlessly and got the upgrade.
Third time was dtw to sea. Used the ruc at 30+ days before hand and it cleared. Flight was delayed 20 minutes and app let me rebook. Took a flight thru msp on an a330 and was rebooked into a. Ruc never used again!
4th time was dtw to sea. At this time I was a diamond on an h fare and was #6 for 0 seats. Called 3 times and stayed at #6. Went to the skyclub and they fixed it and was number one. Flight was oversold, someone in first took the bump and I got the upgrade. Ruc used.
5th time was sea to atl on 67 intl again. Used ruc at t-24. Went to number 1 for 8 seats. As the 24 hours clicked down i soon became number 1 for 1. With 1 hour to go I became 1 for 0... Fcm and sdc for first class pushed a lot of people to that flight.
I have been lucky. Used them 4 times and only had 2 pulled. 1 time it didn't work.
Currently debating whether or not to get them as a diamond benefit, the hassle with the agents not applying them correctly makes it really not worth it though.

Funny and not to hijack the thread but she wants a year off from "unnecessary" flying so for her, 2015 will be 48,500 Rollover + 60,000 from both of our DL Reserve + 16,300 from 7 MSY-LGA RT totaling 124866 MQM, 14 MQS and most likely under $2000 MQD. We already have a couple of Award TATL's booked.
