127$ for upsell Upgrade to ATL>MSP

I had a U Class ticket ATl->MSP>GRB>MSP>ATL. When l logged in, a message popped up for upsell for 127$ business class for all the segments. I upgraded and it shows a and P class tickets. I see lots of empty seats in business class, so that is the reason for the upsell at 127$

For fun, you could try a dummy booking of your itinerary using G A P fares and see whether it costs just $127 over the fare you paid.

If there's even one empty seat they should be trying to sell a UG. The smug DMs and PMs who are cheering at the cutting of benefits from GMs will be up in arms when DL begins selling gate UGs before the complimentary medallion UGs are processed. And it's coming.

Almost strangely, they are not doing this.

I'm starting to see them for sale on a couple of flights. I think you will see more of this in the future.

I have seen this recently -- was offered an upgrade (as a PM for a certain price) as checking in on my android device recently. Caught me off guard. Turning into the United model.

[Bolding mine]

Yup...reading through this thread and the thread about diminishing complimentary upgrades is giving me a strong sense of déjà vu. Some of the realizations that you guys are making are exactly what United flyers discovered in the last two years. Enjoy the transition.

I got a similar offer and I wrote this to customer care:

Today when I checked in via the iphone app for an upcoming
flight (DL 4537, Wed. 11/5/14, 9:50 am) I was offered the chance to
upgrade to first for $49.00. This is a practice (upgrades for "tens of
dollars") that caused many loyal followers of United including myself to
flee. I would hate to have to leave Delta for the same reason. If this
is a new practice, please rethink it. If an existing practice, please
let me know if you plan to continue it so I may rethink my future travel
plans. If you want me to be loyal to Delta, please do not reduce my
upgrade opportunities by offering to sell them for "tens of dollars".
Thank you, xxxx xxxxxxxxxx

To this they replied somewhat cryptically:

Dear Mr. xxxxxxxxxxx,

Was the error offing it to a PM, offering it at too low of a price or offering it at all?

The error (if there indeed was an error and it's not simply a lie) was releasing a policy into the wild that hasn't been officially announced. This is only going to increase. The elites cheering on the devaluation of lower tiers should enjoy their party while they can because it will soon come to an abrupt halt. Probably next December after everyone has reached the increased MQD amounts and they can pull the rug out from under everyone at the last minute, yet again.

UA does this, DL is soon to follow. So if you go to another airline it'll have to be AA, maybe you'll get lucky and they won't follow suit. Don't bet on it.
