The $16 pass will NOT work on international flights.

Ahh...I didn't even notice they had added that to the preflight options. The mobile pass purchased onboard is $12.95 domestic.

But looking at gogoair.com, it seems that the $8 all day smartphone pass is only intended to work on domestic US flights...

Note that pretty much all the domestic-only purchase plans do not work with the international flights. I recently upgraded my domestic-only Delta monthly Gogo subscription to the global (worldwide) Delta monthly Gogo plan for an extra $10 a month while inflight over the Atlantic. Used the Chat function with Gogo - basically they have to cancel your domestic plan, and then they give you some credit through a promo code and you subscribe like a new user to the Global plan.

FWIW, it appears that international wifi is now quite prevalent on most trans-oceanic aircraft (I fly mostly on the 767-300ERs and all of my flights within the past six weeks have had international Gogo available).

Also, I find the speed and quality to be very good compared to international wifi on some other carriers. I have used inflight wifi on LH, EK, and QR and the Gogo recently; LH is comparabe (believe the use t-mobile), while EK and QR were both atrocious in terms of speed and availability...

Oddly, on my recent trips to NRT/SIN, I used the chat function on all four legs, asking to upgrade to the global plan (as the message tells me to) — none of the agents knew what a Global plan even was, but none of them hesitated to give me a free code to use for that flight.

Was on N710DN the other day and despite the red Wifi pamphlet in D1 the FA checked and said it wasn't working. The media releases have projected having it rolled out completely by the end of 2105. Does anyone know if its an issue with the 77L or getting coverage for the longer routes these birds service?

The 777 fleet seems to be the last and slowest to get the gogo satellite updates. I don't think its an issue with the plane itself, but just the rate of installation.

I thought all the 747s had Wifi, but that was not the case on today's flight from CDG to DTW.

You were on N661US, the prototype 747-400. In my opinion, its a blessing in disguise.

Unfortunately the DL marketing literature says that all 747s have wifi, although N661US does not.

Has anyone flown the DTW - NRT on the A330 recently? I am headed over in November, and I am curious if that leg will have WIFI. Delta.com says it will, but I have been lied to before...

All A330s have wifi. If there is a last minute sub of a 744, it will have wifi. Only the 767 and 777 fleets have a rather large percentage of planes without wifi although this winter Delta will finish the installation of wifi on all longhaul aircraft.

You can tell whether your 767 or 777 has international wifi by the satellite bump on the top of the aircraft near the front.

777 with international wifi:

777 without international wifi:

From what I can gather for the 777 fleet, most of the ERs (N860DA - N867DA) should have them by now whereas most of the LRs still don't.

As for the 763ER fleet, I believe the 76Ls are getting them first (those with 35-36 Delta One seats up front). The 76Zs (25-26 Delta One seats) have the domestic Gogo and they haven't started on those yet...I've been on quite a few 76Ls that already have them (N171DN, N176DN, N177DN, N173DZ etc.). Again, you can tell by the big satellite hump near the forward part of the plane...

Interesting the 77Ls weren't given priority given they fly the longest flights, ATL-DXB/JNB, LAX-SYD, in the system.

I am getting ready to fly LAX-SYD in mid-November and I am hoping the wi-fi is installed before then.
