*** Historical information follows: ***

Do not use a Preferred Application (10K Anniversay bonus) if you are not Preferred Elite. The reconsideration csr said as of December 11, 2014 the Preferred numbers are programmed in their computer and non-Preferred are immediately kicked out with no credit check. You cannot apply for any Barclays card for 30 days after rejection.

from the rejection letter I received:
The Dividend Miles number you provided on the application does not currently reflect a Preferred Status within the Dividend Miles program, and unfortunately this offer is only available to Dividend Miles members with Preferred Status. A credit report was not used in making this determination.

Note: If you are an existing cardholder of the older version of this card with a perpetual anniversary bonus, please ask account questions here:
[EXPIRED] Fee waived, US Airways Card, 30K + 10k @ anniversary

Check Application Status

Current offers:
There is a new (as of Dec. 4, 2014) public offer for 50,000 bonus miles after the first purchase, $89 annual fee is not waived:
http://www.worldgotbigger.com/us-airways-credit-card/

There is also an offer for 50k now and 10k at first anniversary, for preferred members only, reported by jrobinson5 in Post 935 - but see that post for the link and that user's difficulties with it.

Older offers that may still work:

50k Offers - There are individually targeted offers circulating for a 50k signup bonus. No one has yet identified a way to apply without actually receiving a personalized code from Barclays in advance.

40k miles after first purchase; $89 annual fee NOT waived [This is the standard public offer]

40k miles after first purchase plus 10k miles at first (and only first) anniversary; $89 annual fee NOT waived [Note: For"Preferred Members Only"; for similar offers, this has been sporadically enforced - see the anniversary miles thread below for historical data]

Alternately, there is a long-running 35,000 mile offer with first year fee waived and 10,000 miles every anniversary:

Fee waived, no spend, US Airways Card, 35K (WIKI) Now dead - However, see that thread for 30k + 10k anniversary offer

(All offers with perpetual anniversary bonus are no longer available)

FAQ's
What will happen to this card when American and US Airways mileage plans are merged ?
The best information we has says that when that happens, Barclays will no longer be able to issue new cards, but your existing card will continue to be serviced by Barclays and become an American Airlines "red" credit card with benefits similar to the Citi AA Platinum card now issued (http://mommypoints.boardingarea.com/...erican-merger/)

Can I churn this card?
Yes

When can I apply for my 2nd/3rd/etc cards?
The general consensus is that you wait 6 months between applications with calling for recon significantly reducing your chances (better to get instant approval). YMMV. Note that in late 2014 there were several successful reports of people applying sooner than 6 months.

Do I have to close already existing accounts before applications for subsequent cards?
No but as always, YMMV

What's the reconsideration line number?
1-866-408-4064. Only open M-F, 8am-5pm Eastern time.
1-866-951-1437, After-hours (24/7)

When do the bonus miles post?
The annual fee will usually be charged in the first billing cycle. So assuming you made another purchase of at least $0.01 during the first billing cycle, the bonus miles will be credited to your account on the second billing cycle. If the AF doesn't post until the 2nd cycle, and you wait til the stmt. appears, your miles will not post until the 3rd cycle.

Key things to note with these new cards:
1. The previous cards waived the first year's annual fee and offered 10k for holding the card another year whereby the annual fee was charged. FTers, however, reported that Barclays did not clawback the 10k bonus after cancelling the card shortly after the AF posted.

2. The new cards' T&Cs this time explicitly state that the bonus will post upon payment of the AF (which is not waived) given that the fee isn't rescinded.

-Does this mean they will clawback the points?
Not enough data to confirm this

-If they don't plan to clawback the miles, how do they enforce the new terms?
They could, in theory, award the bonus after the period in which you could request a refund of the AF expires

Can I make a purchase and pre-pay the $89 AF prior to the first statement posting and receive the bonus miles?
Maybe. As of now, there are at least three data points stating this has been done successfully. Make a purchase of $0.01 $1 or more then use bill pay to make the payment and include the $89 AF (e.g. - a $1 purchase requires a $90 payment). If done correctly, the bonus miles (and the spend miles) will post on your first statement and to US Airways one day after the statement closes.

However, there are at least 2 reports (see #400) of having done the above and the AF did not bill in the first cycle (hence no posting of sign up bonus in that cycle). See the post for a possible explanation.

PLEASE POST if you applied again (FEB-APRIL, 2015), and after approval, ACTUALLY GOT the eligible bonus second time around after your approval and one time spend. That's really what peeps want to know.

I do it by secure message every time. No problem.

Just wanted to share a possible issue with referral emails:

2 weeks ago I sent out a number of PM's asking for referral emails / links. I applied through the link sent in the first reply I got, and was denied even after 2 recon calls. No biggie, I'll live.

But, I continued to get PMs from members here telling me that their referral emails had been sent to me. However, I have not received a SINGLE email referral offer in my inbox, spam, or junk folders. I have a windows outlook email address ([email protected]), so I don't know if this issue is tied to that email service (REDCard required me to use a gmail account to get activation email) or if there is a system-wide glitch for the US airways referrap system.

Did anyone else have issues receiving referral emails? (I apologize if this has been covered earlier in the thread) )

Referral e-mail success for 2nd card in 5 months

I applied for a US Airways card on August 12th. Card is still open, but I've probably charged less than $300 on it in total. My FIL sent me a referral, and I used the link to apply. Was approved even though my previous approval was only 5 months ago. I have one Barclays card that has been open for several years (LL Bean), and I've opened and closed two or three in the past couple of years (Arrival+, NFL). FIL also sent my wife a referral, and she was approved for her 2nd US Airways card, but the first app was early last year (more than 6 months ago) and has been closed for several months.

Just received an approved email for this card. Credit limit is $5k, the same amount I lowered my Arrival card by a few days before applying.

What was your status showing during those 2 days before you got the approval mail?

Datapoint: I was just denied a second US airways card. Per the CSR, it is Barclay's policy to only allow 1 card for a given product.

My other US Barclays card was opened 9 months ago. She did offer some other cards, as my credit score is 800+ and income isn't and issue. She advised this is a hard policy at Barclays.... should have just closed my other account prior....

Applied for the Arrival card 5 minutes after the US Air denial and was immediately approved.

My advice would be to kill your existing US Airways card prior to applying to ensure approval......

The usual "we're reviewing your application, and this may take up to 10 business days"

Yup. Though, for some people they can get more than 1 Barclay card at the same time. They key is getting instantly approved. If not they'll definitely get denied by a human. It is risky, of course.

fwiw, dropped two cards and $35k in cl over the last week. still have one open US air card from 3 years back. Previously denied for my third card around 6 weeks ago. Tried again today, no instant approval. Maybe too many new cards in last 6 months but not sure why. Last time they said that Barclay's had extended enough credit to me so thought that closing two cards and lowering the associated credit they gave me would have helped but apparently it didn't do the trick. fico 800+, income not a problem

Were you denied or just given the "we're reviewing your application"? If the latter you've still got a chance.

Does anyone know if the 10k PQMs for $25k spend is still available? I know it is going away this year, but I haven't been able to determine if it's still active. I'm in the middle of trying to hit the $25k spend, but will quit if I can't get the PQMs.

Another instant approval

I closed my US Air account in late dec last year to reapply again. I opened it in July last year and there was not much activity. I already have a B&N card so was very skeptical of getting approval. To my surprise I got an instant approval with 12.5k CL. My first card only had 5k CL. I used 10k referral link from my wife's first card. She got approved 2 days ago for her 2nd US Air card with an identical CL.

the latter but haven't heard of anyone having any success if they did not get auto approval. Not anticipating success especially since I was denied 6 weeks back, I just cancelled a US Air card in the last week, and I still hold a US Air card. Oh well, it wasn't for lack of trying

Seriously?

The poster's question you answered just reported his app from a pending turned to approval today, just a few posts above yours. Hence he asked the form of your "denial" and concluded you may still have a chance.

There are no less than a doz or more such type of pending to approvals since the 50K offer came out.
