Do not use a Preferred Application (10K Anniversay bonus) if you are not Preferred Elite. The reconsideration csr said as of December 11, 2014 the Preferred numbers are programmed in their computer and non-Preferred are immediately kicked out with no credit check. You cannot apply for any Barclays card for 30 days after rejection.
from the rejection letter I received:
The Dividend Miles number you provided on the application does not currently reflect a Preferred Status within the Dividend Miles program, and unfortunately this offer is only available to Dividend Miles members with Preferred Status. A credit report was not used in making this determination.
Note: If you are an existing cardholder of the older version of this card with a perpetual anniversary bonus, please ask account questions here:
[EXPIRED] Fee waived, US Airways Card, 30K + 10k @ anniversary

Current offers:
There is a new (as of Dec. 4, 2014) public offer for 50,000 bonus miles after the first purchase, $89 annual fee is not waived:
http://www.worldgotbigger.com/us-airways-credit-card/
There is also an offer for 50k now and 10k at first anniversary, for preferred members only, reported by jrobinson5 in Post 935 - but see that post for the link and that user's difficulties with it.
Older offers that may still work:
50k Offers - There are individually targeted offers circulating for a 50k signup bonus. No one has yet identified a way to apply without actually receiving a personalized code from Barclays in advance.
40k miles after first purchase; $89 annual fee NOT waived [This is the standard public offer]
40k miles after first purchase plus 10k miles at first (and only first) anniversary; $89 annual fee NOT waived [Note: For"Preferred Members Only"; for similar offers, this has been sporadically enforced - see the anniversary miles thread below for historical data]
Alternately, there is a long-running 35,000 mile offer with first year fee waived and 10,000 miles every anniversary:
Fee waived, no spend, US Airways Card, 35K (WIKI) Now dead - However, see that thread for 30k + 10k anniversary offer
(All offers with perpetual anniversary bonus are no longer available)
FAQ's
What will happen to this card when American and US Airways mileage plans are merged ?
The best information we has says that when that happens, Barclays will no longer be able to issue new cards, but your existing card will continue to be serviced by Barclays and become an American Airlines "red" credit card with benefits similar to the Citi AA Platinum card now issued (http://mommypoints.boardingarea.com/...erican-merger/)
Can I churn this card?
Yes
When can I apply for my 2nd/3rd/etc cards?
The general consensus is that you wait 6 months between applications with calling for recon significantly reducing your chances (better to get instant approval). YMMV. Note that in late 2014 there were several successful reports of people applying sooner than 6 months.
Do I have to close already existing accounts before applications for subsequent cards?
No but as always, YMMV
What's the reconsideration line number?
1-866-408-4064. Only open M-F, 8am-5pm Eastern time.
1-866-951-1437, After-hours (24/7)
When do the bonus miles post?
The annual fee will usually be charged in the first billing cycle. So assuming you made another purchase of at least $0.01 during the first billing cycle, the bonus miles will be credited to your account on the second billing cycle. If the AF doesn't post until the 2nd cycle, and you wait til the stmt. appears, your miles will not post until the 3rd cycle.
Key things to note with these new cards:
1. The previous cards waived the first year's annual fee and offered 10k for holding the card another year whereby the annual fee was charged. FTers, however, reported that Barclays did not clawback the 10k bonus after cancelling the card shortly after the AF posted.
2. The new cards' T&Cs this time explicitly state that the bonus will post upon payment of the AF (which is not waived) given that the fee isn't rescinded.
-Does this mean they will clawback the points?
Not enough data to confirm this
-If they don't plan to clawback the miles, how do they enforce the new terms?
They could, in theory, award the bonus after the period in which you could request a refund of the AF expires
Can I make a purchase and pre-pay the $89 AF prior to the first statement posting and receive the bonus miles?
Maybe. As of now, there are at least three data points stating this has been done successfully. Make a purchase of$0.01 $1 or more then use bill pay to make the payment and include the $89 AF (e.g. - a $1 purchase requires a $90 payment). If done correctly, the bonus miles (and the spend miles) will post on your first statement and to US Airways one day after the statement closes.
However, there are at least 2 reports (see #400) of having done the above and the AF did not bill in the first cycle (hence no posting of sign up bonus in that cycle). See the post for a possible explanation.
PLEASE POST if you applied again (FEB-APRIL, 2015), and after approval, ACTUALLY GOT the eligible bonus second time around after your approval and one time spend. That's really what peeps want to know.

Is there a rough consensus on what are too many apps for Barclays to accept? I want to apply for this card (keeping my older version of the card) and will have applied for 3 other non-barclays cards in the last 12 months and 2 in the last 6 months. Is that too many for them?

Update: 3 months/15k points offer - points received
An update: Several months back Barclays offered me a bonus on my US Air card. Spend $750 each month for 3 months Apr-May-Jun, earn 15k bonus points. Well, my bonus finally posted a few days ago. It took 6 weeks from the end of June.

Just applied and sadly, got the dreaded "Under further review" message. Is that generally a bad sign when you already have a Barclays US Airways card? Is it worth calling recon or should I just wait it out? Also curious of what people would tell recon why you need a 2nd card since I haven't put anything other than the 1 small purchase on the first card!

I just waited it out but I did not have any Barclays at the time.

An additional data point... Instant approval today for the card offering 40,000 miles on 1st use + 10,000 miles on 1st account anniversary. I'm not a DM elite. I applied for five cards (including the Arrival+) 5 months ago. Those are the only card applications for me in the past year. This was my second Barclays USAirways card; I had canceled the 1st card this past January.

Since this offer includes the statement: "Please enter the following information as it appears on the offer you received in the mail," I'm guessing it's a targeted offer. Anyone willing to give me their code?

If you just click Apply Now, the page redraws with the following in red:
LAST NAME: Please enter your Last Name as it appears on the offer you received in the mail.
PERSONAL ID CODE: Your Personal ID Code must be 11 characters long.
PERSONAL ID CODE: Your Personal ID Code must be 11 characters long.
It not only checks for the code, but also the last name! How likely is it that they'll let you apply using someone else's last name???

We appreciate your interest in this offer. The personal ID doesn't match our records so we are unable to process your application.
We invite you to view a list of current partner offers at www.barclaycardus.com/offers and apply today using our fast and secure online application.
but getting a universal code for this offer would be sweet if someone has it.

Looking for some advice here...
I have the US Airways card that was available from last year (the 40K, no AF the 1st year) card with the account opened in June of 2013. They offered to waive the fee if I kept the card despite the fact that I had only spent $1 on the card, so I still have this card.
Tried applying for a 2nd USAir card in June of 2014. However, it was the other version of this card that waived the AF the first year if you had status with the airline. I didn't have the status but applied any way. A mistake in hindsight for sure. My application was immediately rejected and the reason stated was that I didn't have the status needed. A letter I later received in the mail did state that no credit bureau was used in making this decision.
I then tried to apply for this 40K with AF version of the card about a week later. My application for this card was also immediately rejected with the reason being that I had applied for another Barclays product within the last 30 days and was not eligible to apply for another card until after 30 days. I did not receive a rejection letter in the mail for this.
I waited around 37 days and then reapplied for this card again and received the "under review" notice after submitting my application. Rejection letter came in the mail today with the reason stating "too many recent applications." I take this to mean too many recent applications with Barclays...because outside of these US Airways applications , I have only applied for 3 cards in the last year and 1 in the last 6 months (data point: was accepted for 2/3 cards and my credit score is around 810). I also say this must mean "too many recent applications" with barclays as well because this letter also said a credit bureau was not used in making this decision, which I found both strange and interesting. Although I'm at least happy that this will not create any hard pull.
Any advice for calling recon? Are my odds horrible? Especially since my spend on the other US Airways card was only $1? I'm not sure what I should say upon calling, but was thinking about saying that the other card I used primarily for personal use but this one I plan to use for business use and thus will be using it more. I just don't want to get caught in a lie like another user I saw on here did and it's hard to justify that spend. Then again, I still think I'm being unfairly penalized for applying too much when really, this is the first time I've applied for this version of the card where it had a chance of being accepted. I know it appears otherwise, but such is not the case.
I'd love to hear any thoughts or advice.

Hope this helps others with a data point.
Several weeks ago I received a mail offer for this card with the 40K miles and $89 AF terms. This mailed offer did include an 11-digit Personal ID Code. I was planning on applying for this card but checked this forum for the latest news and saw that there was the information about the targeted 50K miles offer. I didn't know if my ID Code would work or that I would otherwise be eligible for this 50K miles offer but figured it was worth a try. I used the link several posts above to apply for the 50K miles offer and used my existing ID Code. I was instantly approved for the card.
This is my first post although I have been using these forums for several months. Thanks to everyone for all of the useful information.
