Charge rental to Amex Platinum or CSR?
AFAICT, they both have primary insurance for excess if I can decline CCW?
I'm looking to rebook for an upcoming trip because I had booked with Dollar Rental, which requires proof of credit card coverage. I've heard different accounts of them refusing a premium credit card as such proof, so I guess I can get letters from Amex or Chase.
Beyond that, Amex earns 1X points on the rental while CSR earns 3X.
But for the Amex Plat, it would be part of spending to get 50k bonus, though I can probably get spending without this one rental and potentially another rental for a different trip.

I'm pretty sure Amex Plat coverage is secondary unless you opt into Amex's Premium Car Rental Protection (which has a fee per rental).

Wish a few more cards would offer this. Decided to cancel my UA cc, so now I'm really left with Chase Sapphire. Not too many other choices make sense for me.

It looks like the primary coverage on the Discover Escape card is now gone. The online link for the card's benefits when logged into my account shows only secondary coverage. I chatted with a Discover rep to confirm the change; she was unable to tell me when it changed, but confirmed that it's secondary only now. RIP.

Cheapest Card with Primary Auto Insurance
I want to dump my Chase Sapphire Reserve - it only has 2 advantages (for me) over my Citi Prestige but overall Citi Prestige is a better card for me. One of those two advantages is that the auto rental collision insurance is primary.
What's the cheapest (or better yet no fee) card that gives primary insurance?
(In case anyone is interested, the other significant advantage that I see in the Chase card over the Citi card is that the air travel reimbursement benefit is $50 higher.)

CSP is $95 per year as is the United Explorer Card. Explorer Card gives me a free bag and priority boarding on United - which I might use every once in a while. But seems like CSP has a better sign-up bonus. On earns miles, the other points. Anything else I need to know if choosing between those two cards? .
