Mileathon 2011 (2/01/11 - 4/30/11)

It's baaaaack...

http://www.continental.com/mileathon

Code:
Mileathon is a rewarding promotion for OnePass members.
Here's how it works:

    * Register* online between Jan. 1 and Feb. 28, 2011 at
      continental.com/mileathon.
    * Complete qualifying credit-earning activities at continental.com. Credit-
earning activities include using online flight bookings, hotel stays and
car rentals and more. Each Mileathon activity you complete between
Feb. 1 and April 30, 2011** earns you credits. The more credits you
accumulate, the more miles you earn.
    * Earn miles and go places. At the end of the promotion, the top credit-
earner in each OnePass category will also receive a Grand Reward — a
continental.com cruise package for two to a destination of your choice,
plus First Class or BusinessFirst® airfare and a $500 gift card.

Registration begins Jan. 1, 2011.

*Must reside in the 48 contiguous United States.
**This offer is not retroactive; credit accrual begins the date of registration.

I am one question regarding mileathon:

Let's say I register on Jan. 1. I'm flying on 1/5/11. Would that flight count towards mileathon even though I booked it in October?

I'm going to guess "no" since the webpage says:

Each Mileathon activity you complete between Feb. 1 and April 30, 2011** earns you credits.

Your date of 1/5/11 does not fall within the stated window.

Yes, but the webpage als says:

As soon as I register, (starting Jan. 1) I will be able to accrue miles. My question was whether or not my flight would count because I booked it in October.

If run like previous years then yes*. Booking points / etc. would not be applicable however.

*and mileathon will be updated sometime around Feb. 14th 2018 to reflect the flight taken

I suspect that since you cannot sign up until 1/1/11, that the link will not be active until that time. I am surprised that when you clicked on the link you didn't get something like "come back on Jan 1" in reply.

Besides un-subscribing for all email subscriptions from CO to be able to re-sign up for them (that's normally what...3 points?), is there anything else y'all can think of to do up-front to maximize point mileathon points later?

Good call on the unsubscribing. ^ Almost forgot to do that. Missed those points last time.

Definitely a good call.

For easy reference, I'm pretty sure this is the necessary page:
