How did you first find out about Flyertalk? [merged threads]

I think that FT is an unique, helpful community composed of people who share a common affinity. Its a special place.

I am curious how you first fell upon FlyerTalk? How did you first find out about Flyertalk?

I always wonder how newcommers get to "the boards".

good old word of mouth.

and i'm certainly glad the 'issue' has been resolved. there have been self-appointed moderators in the last few weeks with a lot less grace than svpii.

edited to correct the spelling of "spvii's" name.

Bathroom wall.

"For a good time, visit www.flyertalk.com"

It wasn't quite the website I had in mind, but it's been awesome enough to hold my attention for 6 years.

I had been receiving the [email protected] e-mail for years before the current version — and possibly all previous versions — of FlyerTalk existed. Links to threads on FlyerTalk started appearing in those e-mails. That is probably how I first found out about FlyerTalk.

I don’t know why, but I missed my chance to truly become an original FlyerTalk member. I guess it was because I did not believe in actively participating in Internet chat rooms or bulletin boards — until I was finally compelled to contribute to FlyerTalk back in December of 2002.

Here I am today — and I still receive those e-mails to this date...

Used WebFlyer for quite a long time and one day happened to look at links to find FT. Lurked for a bit before signing up and posting.

A friend e-mailed me a link to the puddingguy story back in 2000. I read, I explored, I was hooked.

honestly - google.

Having found incredible resources including betterbidding.com and fatwallet.com in this way, I found webflyer and FT when searching for frum advice on achieving status or anything else on FF programs.

Thank you for this great resource, and thank you for keeping it so useful!

the fine print...
As I'll probably post in the wrong place or ask irrelevant questions (I've noticed this by non-responses to earlier questions), apologies in advance and I'll try to be more careful!

If I can assist with questions about my hometown, country, customs/culture etc, I'm happy to help, as some of you have helped me re. my honeymoon across the US from next month until October.

I was looking for ways in increase my miles and remembered reading a story in USAToday about the Latin Pass Run. Not sure if FT was mentioned there or not but I did a search and found the site.
