SYD pre-Ozfest8 dinner May 21

There'll be a few folks in town the week prior to Ozfest8 DRW and dinner on Saturday May 21 seems a great idea.

Most people are staying around the city so Chinatown is probably the best option.

At this stage we're thinking of an early-ish dinner (don't want the long distance travellers to fade over their noodles!) ...

Confirmed so far:

Dedehans +1
BobW
Fredd and Mrs Fredd
Pooch
Ozstamps and MargoOz

Possible:

JohnK
SQ421

Emperors Garden is an option (BYO!) but any suggestions/recommendations greatfully received!

If you could post your interest by Friday 14th I'll make the booking ...

Look forward to meeting both 'old' and new friends

Hi Pooch,
Would love to catch up with you all. But I must apologise as I shall be interstate that weekend. Look forward to seeing you in Darwin. John.

I would love to attend but not sure if I have any other commitments that night at this stage. I know I am playing golf very early the next day and need to drive all the way out to Camden, Studley Park, Golf Course.

Please put me down as a possible and Chinatown should be a good venue.

We won't take it personally John and we'll all raise a glass in DRW!

Another possible restaurant

Restaurant which comes with recommendation is an Indonesian restaurant - Delima - it's also in Chinatown and on the very positive side is BYO (Bring Your Own wine/beer) with only a $3 pp corkage.

Indonesian may prove an interesting change for our US compadres?

BobW - no abalone but have a look at the menu and see if anything 'takes your fancy' ...

I'm fine with wherever we go. Any new experience will be fun.

OK ... so far Delima's is the favoured option, with 8 definite starters and one possible.

I'll be booking this Friday, for a 7pm dinner - which I know is early, but am conscious of the potential jetlag-ees

Delima's is a short 10 minute walk down Sussex Street from the Sheraton Darling Harbour ... I gather most/all are staying there?

For those who wish to imbibe some quality Oz or NZ wines, there's Bottle Shop/Wine Cellar in the Harbourside Shopping Centre. Alternately, I'm happy to make any wine purchases on your behalf if you let me know your preferences ...

Looking forward to seeing you all again in a couple of weeks.

Pooch, I only just noticed this thread. While I'm not headed to the OzFest this year, I'd love to come by and catch up with a few fellow FTers. Any chance you could put me down as a tentative "yes" for the dinner? Depending on how things go here in Canberra, I'll be in Sydney late friday night or saturday morning.

Cheers
