Yes, I took the ride this year in may.

There´s a ferry every 30 min.

First boat from Xiamen to Kinmen is at 08.00 am, last one at 06.30 pm.
Kinmen to Xiamen is from 08.30 am to 07.00 pm.

At Kinmen you can change your money at the departure hall.
There you can find an BOC counter.

To the Shanghai regulars:

I'll be landing at Hongqiao this Friday afternoon. Where would - this might get a chuckle - a relatively relaxed place to buy an HSR ticket for Nanjing? I know they need my passport, but can I get a ticket online?

Next, where is the Xinjiang/qiegao neighborhood?

Also, what's in Kunshan?

Thanks,
BmB

Where are you staying in SH? (After knowing this, just do a baidu search, and you'll find tons of train ticket places.)

I didn't know that SH had a Xinjiang neighborhood. I've never had decent Uighur food there.

Perhaps others can chime in on the wonders of Kunshun (it's just another speculative real estate play to me).

I don´t know a neighborhood but you have Uygur restaurants all over the city.

This one is well known

Thanks for your reply, moondog.

Maybe they don't have a de facto Xinjiang area, but I like to take advantage of some of the food (and dig the music too) that can't yet be found in NY. Maybe I'll just unnerve the Hongqiao info desk about this...

Don't have a place to stay yet.

However, I've seen the PVG-NKG flight for as low as ~¥100 on elong. Hmm...

I'd rather ride a bicycle than take that flight (bus gate, delay greater than time en route, mu).

显而易见!

As for Shanghai, the only constant is taking a photo from the Bund to compare with previous Pudong skyline shots. This time, I'll add gorging on xiaolongbao to the mix.

"Chocolate town" Xiaobei? Haven't explored it much but I've passed by a number of times to look around and to take visitors to BeiYuan JiuJia.

Don't forget the in-season crab!

Kunshan is all factories. Are you thinking about going there?

If you really want a good Uyghur restaurant with music, there is one in Xujiahui which is quite popular. I have not been myself as I have been to Xinjiang a few times

Nanjing's "Prized" Counterfeit Mall?

I have made it to Nanjing, and have been asking many a concierge and search engine about a certain counterfeit mall. Buckstar instead of Starbucks, Goach but not Coach...you can find info about it, but no address. Does anyone know of its whereabouts?

I don't want to buy anything - as if 假货 were limited to this mall anyway - but I'd like to take a few photos for a friend.

Thanks,
BmB

For a tourist? Nothing. It's actually not a bad place to live from the downtown out west towards the new Duke university campus. Roads are wide, plenty of greenspace, and a lot of new developments. City is pretty old (though with no notable historical events) but it's a pretty prosperous bedroom community, I'm sure alot to do with the Taiwanese investment. I'd consider getting a place there depending on how well the west end development proceeds over the next few years.

This is the tag on evening flight on China Eastern for (usually) international Skyteam connections. This is the flight that has given me the most grief in my life - 7/7 in being at least an hour late with an average arrival of 1:00am at NKG. It may be better now but I don't even consider it anymore, just for piece of mind.....

The flipside being the early morning outbound to PVG - almost always fine as passengers have to make their international connections.
