TSA Administrator John Pistole to retire from the agency after 4 1/2 years as its chief - @DHSgov statement

The head of the Transportation Security Administration, John Pistole, announced Thursday he would retire from public service effective Dec. 31.

Pistole served more than four years atop the agency created in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks Sept. 11, 2001, that screens travelers and luggage at airports.

Saw that and rushed right to. Ft to celebrate!

Let just hope his successor is an improvement (not holding my breath on that, though).

After 31 years sucking on the public teat he retires with a $100K pension for life and gets a gig as a TV network’s Talking Head Expert for a million a year. Ka-ching, time to cash in like all the other “public servants”(sic) in D.C. Or perhaps he will join the Security Industrial Complex and be a VP at the Chertoff Group.

Probably saw an intel memo about an upcoming terrorist attack and decided “Better quit now so I can claim “No attacks on MY watch.””

Which is why any "celebration" is premature. As the poet once said: "meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

Unless, of course, you're genuinely celebrating Administrator Pistole's retirement, as many people would celebrate a friend's retirement after years of public service ... in which case, I apologize.

(yeah, I thought so)

I've never met you and have no idea if you're ethical, smart or can even walk or chew gum.

But how much worse could you be? You've got my vote!

Someone should convince him to do a Q&A (Reddit style Ask Me Anything) on FT.

Retiring Transportation Security Administration chief John Pistole will be likely returning to his Hoosier roots to become president of his alma mater, Anderson University, the university announced Thursday.

He will be nominated for president by the university's search committee next month for the trustee board's approval, said Anderson University spokesman Chris Williams.

Meet The Acting Village idiot

All I can say to Pissy is: "Up yours with a red hot poker."

Here's what we have in store for the foreseeable future:

Carraway earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Heidelberg College.
Let's start a contest for a nickname.

FYI, the Village Idiot retired in July (if anyone noticed).

OT but don't Universities usually hire academic types as President? Why does a private Christian liberal arts university founded as the Church of God's Theology Seminary need a career Policeman without an academic PhD as it's President? Someone been stealing from the collection plate on Sunday?

Because, of course, name-calling is a great way to engage with those in power.
