We are undoubtedly paying top 'specially jacked up just for the taxpayer' prices for these swabs and testers. The companies that produce them own a few Congressfolks and likely golf and lunch with procurement staff at TSA.
First and foremost, this stuff doesn't have to catch anyone or anything: it's got to make somebody rich(er).
