First Class Refresh Coming Soon...

The cabin refresh will feature:

  • New upholstery
  • New 18” PTV
  • New PTV deployment and stowage mechanism
  • A new entertainment handset same with the A350s
  • More powerful USB port
  • ‘Do Not Disturb’ and ‘Wake up’ service functions
Wonder when they intend to roll out the handset and PTV on JCL

So a new hard product?

I hope the difference is greater than that of a350 J vs. a330/b777 J.

Is the current F supplied by Zodiac too?

No. Still the same shell hence the word refresh.

It should be a reasonable stopgap solution till the 779's come along which should be in 4-5 years.

But 18" for a TV in F seems awfully small. Most TV's in F are at least 23"+.

Glad they're doing this. The product design is superb, but a few things - TV and TV pull-out function come to mind - definitely could use an upgrade.

Gotta give whomever credit for the basic design of that F pod. Unique, damn good, and it will last them 15 years! I think the first iteration (pre the 1st "refresh") came out in 2007 right, with the first 77A delivery? Has been a great product for them.

I hope they fix the problem of IFE displays bouncing around during turbulence. I'd also say maybe half the F seats I've had on CX have had crooked displays.

my guess is they are trying to fit it within the frame, since the seats are still the same.

Exactly. Same could be said for J where it's mostly screen and less screen frame.

fantastic. the PTV deployment absolutely needs the help. It's 10 years old on some of those birds and ain't workin well on many of them.

Would be great to get better resolution screen too.

Other than that, it's still such a great hard product.....now if they'd only work on the soft product....

I hope they relocate the USB port (or is it power?) as now it's quite faraway from the seat itself.

Yes, JL has 23" in 1-2-1 config. Presumably 18 is just to match 35G business.

Well, that might be the biggest it can go into that space, remember, it's a refresh.

They're just updating the covers, trim and IFE like last time, but this is a more substantial update.

Any idea if all 33 frames will be refreshed, and any routes will get it more? (I assume not for the latter as the first F refresh wasn't route specific as well)

I think size isn't the biggest issue with the screens but rather the quality of the image. I wouldn't mind something smaller than the industry standard/competitors' but as long as they improve the resolution, contrast, and viewing angle then that would be great

Also, can they ditch the preroll ads while they're at it?
