Wheelchair service...

Assuming cx picked elderlies up on a wheelchair, will they deliver them at the destination until a recepient comes up or just leave them at arrivals hall? (Hkg-yvr)

I would hope that CX has the same arrangements at YVR as I saw the other night on arrival at YYZ.

All along the entire jet bridge and into the terminal just beyond, there was a line of at least 30 wheelchairs and a dozen or so attendants waiting.

I am not sure what the legal requirements are once the pax are in the arrival hall. Are they left at customs or are they still escorted through baggage pick-up and then into the arrival area landside?

(On boarding my CX to HKG at YYZ, the wheelchair brigade and its boarding were an impressive sight. I've not seen that kind of organization at HKIA.)

Many people take advantage of wheelchair service because of the de facto "priority" service for a minimal fee (while the service itself is free, many wheelchair attendants are tipped).

You will be amazed how many people actually get picked up after arrival. People call this Miracle Flight not without a reason.

Arrival hall, although the service provider will attempt to "deliver" the person in need when the person's pick-up is in the airport.

BTW - CX has nothing to do with this. CX simply "orders" the wheelchairs and the wheelchairs have to do with the airport itself.

That is what the YYZ & YUL to MIA & FLL flights have been called forever.
The minute the planes land in Florida, everyone can walk.

To be fair, however, my 97 year-old grandma could walk onto and off the aircraft, but it is a long, hard often 45-minute walk from aircraft to baggage and includes escalators etc. Not the best situation for her. Saw the same arriving on CX to YYZ. The distance for aircraft to customs to baggage to arrival hall is not short or easy.

The red jacket brigade are YYZ employees or work for a company contracted by YYZ. I've seen the same at U.S. airports.

The wheelchair service at SFO left my father in the arrival hall about 10 years ago. I was late by about 5 min as his flight was an hour early and I was stuck with my client. He was cool though.
