Premium Economy ticket on a 2-class regional aircraft

Looking at getting a PEY ticket for SIN-HKG-JFK.
Some of the planes that fly the SIN-HKG route don't have PEY - just J and Y.
In which cabin would they seat a PEY passenger?

Typically the booking will go into Y using a H subclass.

E class long haul will likely be H in 2 class connecting flights.
R or W class long haul should get B class for 2 class connections.

Happy wandering

It might be possible to book SIN-HKG into discount business while keeping HKG-JFK in PEY, for not much more. I've found fares like this on ITA matrix before, CX is usually able to ticket these over the phone.

I think it's been mentioned on a thread some time ago that in the event of an equipment swap to a plane without PEY, PEY passengers booked in W or R fare class will be placed in J while those booked in E will be put back in Y.

Don't recall a system behind it mentioned anywhere, any chance you recall which thread this was? Have seen it go both ways in T class.

But this is only if you were ticketed in W/R/E to start off with then downgraded.

If you were originally ticketed as V you are entitled to no comp.

I was upgraded from T to U when they swapped the aircraft a few weeks out on BKK-HKG ^

Can go both ways. I was downgraded to X and Avios difference refunded. When I saw the equipment was a 33P with regional business/cradle economy seats I rather have the refund.

Silly question, but how do you price out mixed class bookings on ITA matrix? I only see options for "cheapest available", "premium economy", "business class or higher", and "first class". They seem to apply to the whole journey. Do you look at each sector individually?

With a finite number of seats they will have to downgrade someone

This thread, see post #10:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...-dm-again.html

Seems like my post is only half true after revisiting this old thread. You are only going to be moved to J if your ticket (booked in W or R) is part of a long-haul itinerary. So you are out of luck if your journey in PEY is a single short-haul segment or roundtrip.
