CX 'tail strike'

Well well AKL certainly is getting its fair share of excitement with aircraft not wanting to leave...

The South China Morning Post reports that Cathay has grounded a captain and first officer after an A340-300 (anyone know which one?) took off too steeply in takeoff last Tuesday.

The pilot checked with Auckland air traffic control which said they didn't see the plane touch the runway, and after consulting with management in HK continued with the flight.

The aircraft was inspected by the HK Civil Aviation Department on arrival and the damage "consisted of some scratches on the skin" which were "not significant and not classified as a reportable accident in accordance with HKCAD regulations".

Not reportable so we won't get any more details about it. At least CX didn't climb out below stall speed and ignore the stick shaker for 6 seconds.
