I recommend to also wait-list for more than 1 flight, not just CX255.

Newest update:
Outbound: waitlisted 3 flights
29/4: CX251
30/4: CX255
30/4: CX253
Inbound: confirmed CX252
Which outbound flight is the most possible flight to be confirmed?
(need to book a 3rd I-class ticket at the same time as 1 of the redemption is a companion award)

251 and 255 are the least likely to be confirmed.

Booking an I class also means loosing a redemption space. But anyhow, you should do it asap.
From what I know, asking questions here mean that you are not booking asap.

if i were you i would waitlist only on 253 and 257. 255 and 251 would be a waste of your 3 WL quota.

Yes day flights ex HKG have better chance.
In addition to CX 257 departing at 09:50am and CX253 departing at 15:05pm there is also the new 5th flight: CX239 departing at 12:35pm
Edit: A Tip try and do a dummy booking and view the seat map to try and roughly see how full each flight is in J. Whilst this is not a definitive indicator of how full the flight might be nor can it determine potential award availability, it can give you some insight to the load. I.e. if you look at the seat map and see 100% seats occupied, there is a low chance of getting an award seat.
Also I wonder if you should investigate BA flights BA26/BA28 as they might have some availability.

Award Ticket to LHR
Still waitlisting for 1 more award seat in J for this itinerary:
30/4: CX255
7/5: CX252
Any chance to get the ticket issued on or before 7/4?
