New Codeshares to Thailand

With code-shared CX flight number, is that implying Club Miles can be earned?

I just checked for the whole month of Feb 2014 no flights over 150 USD each way - hardly call that expensive

Will the CX codeshares pick up AA miles?

Bangkok Air has a pretty decent promotion w/JAL and it's been extended for another year. 5000 JL miles (ow) for all flights under 1000 miles & 8000 for 1000-2000. You can transfer SPG points if you've got 'em too. LINK:http://boardingarea.com/viewfromthew...g-around-asia/

This is good news, I think. I fly CX two or three times a year to Thailand from the US, and also fly from Bkk to CNX when I am there. But I have trouble using up my Asiamiles, and I sent an email to CX a month or so ago to see if I could use my Asiamiles to fly from Bkk to CMX and they said no.

Does "codeshare" automatically mean you can now spend Asiamiles for the route?? If PG joins OW that would be great.

I rather CX fly USM rather than do a lame codeshare. What's the benefit other than marketing revenue to CX?!

PG built the airport (& a nice one it is). In exchange they got a virtual monopoly. That's why it's $140 (ew) not $40.

That's the answer from CX

Thank you for contacting The Marco Polo Club Service Centre.

This is to let you know that you may earn Asia Miles on codeshare
flights which are marketed by Cathay Pacific on eligible fare classes.
However, flights marketed by Bangkok Airways (PG) and operated by Cathay
Pacific are not eligible for mileage credits.

I think they got that backward (not surprising given the garbled replies I sometimes get from them). I'm pretty sure it should be flights marketed by CX and operated by PG are not eligible for Club miles.

At least, that would be consistent with oneworld's general principle that what matters is that both the marketing and operating carrier be oneworld members to earn status miles although you can earn redeemable miles on more partners.
