CX 883 (LAX to HKG) - No First Class??

I booked a flight from LAX-HKG in F before BA miles turned into Avios back last November. Looking at a confirmation sheet sent to me this morning, I just happened to check Seat Guru to see how the seating looked and was shocked to find that there was no first class displayed on Seat Guru for this flight! I did notice however that seat number started at 12 or so, so I'm hoping I'm missing something here:

Did I just waste 50,000 extra BA miles to fly business to HKG? Someone please chime in, even if to make me seem stupid for asking this question. Thanks very much.

No you will be in F. The plane that CX fly b/t LAX and HKG is the 77W

http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Cat..._777-300ER.php

which has F on all planes. The 773 is used for regional Asian routes and does not have F.

Unless they have put a 77G on CX883, which has no F.

Ugggh, I guess we'll have to wait and see... I was really looking forward to flying CX F as I heard many many good things about it.

There will certainly be at least 1 flight per day to and from LAX with F.

There WILL be 77G with no first class operating on CX884/885 from September.

Please find the useful post on airlineroute on the planned aircraft type
http://airlineroute.net/2012/01/09/cx-nip-s12update1/

Of course this is subject to change.

You will receive a call from BA to notify you about this change later. This could take some time. I waited for a month before they finally called me about my involuntary downgrade on CGK flight. You can request them to put you on the other flights with F instead or they can refund you the miles if you aren't connecting from another CX F flight say BKK-HKG

I doubt it. Premium traffic is quite good out of LAX, and the 77Gs will be run thin at the moment covering YYZ.

CGK is one of those regional destinations to which CX like swapping aircraft in and out, and is such a different kettle of fish to LAX that I wouldn't consider that vignette a valid comparison. What has probably happened is that BA's systems do not distinguish between 777-300 and 777-300ER (BA labels their ERs as 777-300 since they don't have the non-ER version), and so this has probably carried through to bookings made with partners. A bit unfortunately in the case of CX as they do have both types, and very different product on both types.

I flew CX 883 from LAX to HKG last July and had the same question, the AA ticket said Business (with a Z code) and the plane type was 773 listed however Cityboy above, post #2, answered correctly, the plane was a 77A and definitely had F. The flight was excellent. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for chiming in... I guess I'm just going to have to wait till my flight in July to see how it is. I will definitely ask for a different flight over Avios point refund if given the choice.

Would a phone call or e-mail to Cathay clarify the position? And allow time to sort out a change if necessary....

Or you could add a connection to YVR for F.

CX 883 has first class every day from 7/8 thru 7/14 (I just picked a random date and used expertflyer.com to check)

What you should do is get the CX record locator (by phoning either BA or CX) then you can manage your booking at the CX web site, including assigning seats. As CX just moved to the same reservation system that BA use it is possible that the record locator you already have for the booking at BA will work at the CX web site.
