Not possible. QF is part of Oneworld...Air Canada is part of the Star Alliance (*A) They are not partners at all.....

Best use of points for upgrades is on the airline they came from..... or to purchase Award flights outright on it or its partner airlines....

The reason I say that about upgrades is because although many *A airlines (not sure about Oneworld) DO allow upgrades with "partner airline" miles/points... such upgrades invariably require:

a: Very expensive Economy tickets to start with, and

b. Are expensive in miles/points terms...

You cannot use QFF points to upgrade an Air Canada flight
You can only use QFF points to upgrade an eligbale QF flight. Many QF low cost fare cannot be upgraded.
QF & AC are in different alliance (Oneworld & Star)

Cross airline upgrades are uncommon, even in the same alliance. If cross airline upgrades are offered they tend to require a very expensive base fare and have t&c’s. Star Alliance has a limited cross alliance upgrade system, but requires an expensive base fare booking class, so useless for most people

If you want to travel in better class pay cash for it.
Or if you have sufficient QF points better trying for an premium economy or business class award Australia to USA/Canada on QF (not upgrade)

rotovirus, thanks for posting your enquiry. As the replies show, there is no frequent flyer redemption partnership between Qantas and Air Canada. For more discussion, let me move this to the Qantas forum, where discussion best takes place about the use of Qantas' frequent flyer benefits. Ocn Vw 1K, Senior Moderator.
