As an aside, the prices with Hertz from YYJ (Victoria) to YYZ have dropped substantially. She can now do it for CAD 2k total (full size) which is down from 3,600 a few weeks ago.

@CanuckFlyHigh that's outstanding. There are no deals from YYJ-YYZ but YVR-YYZ is - as you say - down to CAD 1,366 through Costco National and Alamo.
