USA B1 (Business) visa to enter Canada

Hi fellow FTs,

I'm currently holding a B1 visa to enter USA.

I have an upcoming business conference and meeting in Canada (I don't have any Canadian visa).

Am I eligible to enter Canada with the USA B1 visa?

If yes, is it possible for me to just transit in the US to get to Canada?

Thanks!

Despite my affection for the name of the visa, it only gives you entry to the US - if the US border agent accepts it. Canada issues its own visas - just as the US would not accept a Canadian visa. Permanent residents are another story.

Since you location states SIN, are you travelling on a Singaporean passport?

If so, no visa needed for short visits to Canada.

Entering Canada for purpose of business would require a proper visa.

I have a US B1 visa in my Canadian passport for US business visits.

There's a distinction between business and gainful employment, see "Additional Information" below. I could be wrong though.
