Monterey is pleasant. You can go whale watching, and there are plenty of sea lions and some sea otters in the harbour. Much better for sea otters 30 minutes north at Moss Landing where we got very close up to a mother and cub feeding round the boat pontoons.



We stayed in Mariposa after visiting Yosemite - these were at arms length on the breakfast balcony of the Mariposa Inn:
