Delayed Flight to CDG and EU 261

Hi all,
Not sure this is the right forum , so mods pls move to appropriate forum, if its not the right place :-)

I was booked on Easyjet flight from CMN to CDG and flight was delayed for more than 3 hrs. Easyjet refused to endorse it to AF. I was on Flex fare so canceled the flight and bought a new ticket on Air France. Also the delay was due to rolling MX delays for earlier flights of the aircraft on the same day.

I asked easyjet for EU261 they replied back saying it doesnt apply because I didnt take the booked flight. Do I have any recourse or Easyjet is right in declining the 261 claim?

Thanks for your help!

I'm not expert on this, but I seriously doubt that you are entitled to anything after you took the refund.

I didn't take any refund, just canceled the ticket. U2 operations are managed by 3rd party at CMN and they told me to contact customer service.
