Edinburgh Hostels

Hi all,

Looking at going to Edinburgh in early July, and am hoping to dodge expensive hotel prices. Anyone have any experience with hostels in EDI? So far I've looked into the Haggis Hostel, which seems nice enough.

Anyone have any experience with Haggis or other places?

dorms as hostels

During the fringe fest, I stayed in a makeshift hostel made from the university dorm rooms. Was nothing fancy, but the location was very central.

Yes, and the nice thing about this place (I think I stayed at the same one) is that it's all single rooms, albeit with shared bathrooms. There's also one kitchen for about every 4 rooms.

Does this place still exist? Or is only for the Fringe Fest?

Here it is, for two months in the summer (so a little longer than Fringe Fest).

Just to report back, we ended up staying at the Castle Rock Hostel. It was a stellar place, and I'd highly recommend it! It was a great place to meet people and it was in the perfect location.

I can provide more information or a more detailed review if anyone would like me to.
