Smile Spirit Personal Item

I am flying Spirit for the first time and paid for the big seat up front. However in looking at seatguru it states that there is no room to but something under a seat. If we were to have a purse or a very small backpack will they make us pay for it to go in the overhead bin.

Nope, you'll be fine putting it in the OH. Also, you don't need to worry about it being a small backpack. As long as its on your back they won't ask you to size it, or at least I've never seen them do it. Once I fit 2 pairs of snorkeling equipment (fins, goggles, and snorkels) + all my clothes for a weekend trip to Florida in my backpack, put it in the OH, and the GAs and FAs didn't even bat an eye. Good thing too, there's no way that thing would have fit under the seat in front of me. I was about ready to walk onto the plane wearing my fins if they had made me size it. Enjoy your flight!
