Groupon splits with Expedia, launches Getaway Tonight
Expedia and Groupon tried to link up and promote hotel deals together, but that partnership has since fallen through and now Groupon is out on its own with a new last-minute hotel booking product called Getaway Tonight. Think Hotel Tonight, but better?

Rather than simply pull inventory from another source, however, Groupon has built a proprietary extranet that enables hotels to upload inventory and update pricing in real time. Hotels are able to upload inventory far in advance, setting deals to trigger only on the same-day booking window.

It will be interesting to see if hotels choose to play on this platform. It certainly looks like it could be time intensive to constantly update inventory... and it means making inventory available on ANOTHER platform.
I hope they do... anything that gives the traveler another way to get great deals!
