Another pat on the back to the luggage handlers at Gatwick

Came back yesterday from Dubrovnik via Gatwick to Manchester.

The clueless woman at check in tagged our case and sent it on its merry way down the baggage belt. That's when she realised she'd not removed the identifier tag to stick on our tickets. So she decided to print off another one and give us the identifier tag for that one even though it had nothing to do with the one from our suitcase.

She wasn't going to admit this and she rang the Dubrovnik baggage handlers to try to sort it out. Although she was talking in Croatian we worked out what had happened.

She insisted that she and the baggage handlers would sort it out and, struggling for time to make our flight, we went through security expecting that our case would soon be touring Europe.

At Gatwick BA told us to ask about our bag at the gate. Aaron at the gate said that the case had not been seen in London but he stopped the loading procedures for luggage to try to contact the Gatwick baggage team just in case.

JD (name sounded like that) thought he'd already seen our untagged case. As long as we could identify it as ours they'd load it. Sure enough, it was ours.

Having been fed up that we were not going to get our luggage home with us we really appreciated Aaron and JD putting in the effort to help us (especially as this was one of the last flights out of Gatwick last night). Left us feeling very positive about the BA team at Gatwick.

If it's the JD I'm thinking of, then you are lucky as he used to work at Lost luggage LGW before his present despatch job- so he kinda has an interest in the baggage side of things.....top man !!!!Clare
