OT: Idea's for stag do
Seeing as there is a bunch of well travelled people on here, and the BA forum is most off topic...what better place to ask !!
Anway, I have the duty of being best man for one of my friends who is getting married next year. So, along with this task I have to arrange the stag do
As myself and friends are late 20s/early 30s we've done most of the traditional stag do venues (AMS, Prague etc etc). Does anyone here have any idea's on some good european destinations (more than likely eastern Europe I guess) for a couple of nights of excess beer ?
Thanks,
Latitude
PS - we'll get onto the Y/J thing after the destination is sorted

The usual suspects are Prague and Budapest - and I'd suggest you avoid them as they are chokka with stag and hen nights !
Two suggestions from me are Tirana in Albania and Krakow in Poland.
Tirana has really tried very hard and knocked quite a few preconceptions of mine about Albania when I went there for a weekend - this was after a recommendation and article in High Life magazine in February (I think). It's very cheap, and I found the people really quite friendly - it's also interesting as a city.
Krakow might be less suited but I threw it into the mix as it's also a very interesting town and, again, I found the people very warm. Good food can be had here (piroshki...mmmm) and it's pretty cheap too.
BA fly to both of these destinations if that's an influencing factor...I think EasyJet fly to Krakow but not sure about Tirana I'm afraid.

Stag do organiser here too!
You are lucky though! My pals wedding is in Sept this year and he finally got the list of Stag Do-ers to me last week and Stag do is to be end July! Argh!
Luckily he wants to do stuff up in Scotland and do outdoor things so loads of choices.
Still, I have a lot to plan before I head off next weekend on a trip!

Riga (RIX) has convenient daytime flights, is cheap and the BA lounge is pleasant enough. I think they recently shifted the London airport from LHR T4 to Gatwick.

I went to Brussels for mine. Everyone was a bit concerned about my choice as it does not have the reputation of some other cities.
However, it was great (although not cheap). Loads of good bars, top quality food, good golf & loads of 'adult entertainment' venues!

Teece - I will investigate both of these and may PM you for more Riga information
Although, I have always wanted to visit Poland..and Moscow. However, especially with Moscow, I'm not sure how suitable it is for 2 nights away and cheap beer/"stag events" - But, I guess I should consider the needs of the stag first
Even though it'll be a beer filled w/e I need to look for some half decent hotels, as we're all too old to slum it in hostels !

VNO had scads of people doing that very thing. Then practically anywhere that Ryanair flies to may qualify as a venue.

Friend's fiancee just went to Estonia (Talinn I guess?) for his stag do, but it was this past weekend and I don't know the gory details... although, apparently, the plan was along the usual lines of "outdoor pursuits", lots of beer, lots of adult entertainment...
Just got back from Magaluf (hen weekend), the previous weekend. Liked Majorca and the beaches (and the aqua park was quite fun), but Magaluf was a dump.... and the food was not very Spanish at all. So can't recommend that...

I went to Warsaw on my stag-do last year in march. got some v cheap flights frid-sunday about £80-100 cheapo N class on BA. stayed at the Hyatt Regency just outside the main centre only about £60 per room per night and 5 star luxury!
taxi into the centre is dirt cheap (provided you get the licenced ones and not the mafia run ones).
adult entertainment much more risque than england's equivalent and local beer is cheap too. the Hyatt has a casino that closes at 10am! went to an excellent night club after attaching ourselves to some locals got back to the hotel at 5am and promptly lost some 'slotties' (or whatever they are called) in the casino until 9am just in time for breakfast - perfect stag weekend....
Plus going abroad, you mate's are usually less inclined to tie you to a lamppost / other horrible pranks than say newcastle...
