(OT) GEX e-mails: Are they a scam ?

Over recent weeks, I have been receiving a series of emails to seemingly random addressees offering free discounts / upgrades on the GEX (and I think HEX also). The e-mail properties show them as coming from [email protected]

Are they genuine or a scam of some sort ??

There is a joint marketing alliance for GEx and HEx (albeit I think they are dissolving it because of the downgrading of the GEx service) which is why you get e-mails from the same address. The codes they send certainly work (well, the HEx ones do, not tried the GEx upgrade one yet)!
