Mexico City operated by 787-9

Some interesting fleet updates for the winter season. Mexico on a 787 will be vile!

MEX to be operated by 787
SAN - 747
ATL - 787
GIG - 787
PEK - 747
NRT - 777-300 on certain days
HND - 777-300 daily

I'd take MEX any day on a 789 rather than a tired Mid J 744 (although maybe not so in Y - but I've avoided Y since FlyerTalk )

Shame to see Lima suspended, but seems Dubai will now have decent new (interior at least!) aircraft on all three flights

I've got a SAN and a PEK which have turned into 747s, so I'm happy about that!

It could be a typo (788 instead of 789) because F seems unavailable right now on the route, as noted here:

Nice to see LAX getting a third frequency but bummed that IAH will be going back to an unacceptable J product.

Which is where the majority of passengers will be.

Doesn't AeroMexico use the 788 on it's LHR rotation? If so, I assume the Y experience is exactly the same as with or similar to BA (in terms of seat pitch and width) making it a like for like competition.

Depends what metric is being measured. It's a fairly long sector and the current offering in Y provides old seats and a knackered old IFE system with postage stamp screens.

Whilst I'm yet to make it to the very back of a Dreamliner, I'd take it any day over some flickering (at best) Rockwell Collins dross.

Spent 3 anxious weeks waiting for a F redemption to appear next March from MEX (used to be easy) then one did on Friday. Total delight to see it's on the 787-9.

I am quite surprised by the huge cut in capacity on that route I thought it is one of BA most busy routes!!

I wouldn't be surprised to see it change back for summer 2018.
