Fog at London airports, 30 Oct to 1 Nov. Flight delays and cancellations

Hi all

Planned to travel on the service NCL-LHR at 11.50 but just found it it is cancelled.

They tried to rebook me for tomorrow but I managed to change it to this evening - better but still annoying.

Anyone know why this may have happened? The seat plan at check in looked like an almost full flight.

James

Hi James. Terrible fog right now in Surrey - may be causing aircraft delays / cancellations

I suspect weather related. Numerous cancellations showing on BA.com from LHR this morning.

http://www.britishairways.com/rtad/travel/public/en_gb

27 BA cancellations from LHR throughout the day showing so far.

I noticed quite a few domestic and short haul flights had already been proactively cancelled yesterday. I assume t is because of fog today? Certainly quite foggy when I landed 10 minutes ago, although the visibility is slowly improving.

Thanks. I am surprised we weren't held on the ground at LYS looking at the conditions since arrivals rates are presumably reduced. In the end we pushed back on time and we're on stand early.

Ah, it was all going so well, was comforted that none of the LBA services were cancelled including mine, only to receive the dreaded BAeService text just after I got through security. Rather than wait to 1730 I am now off to MAN at 1155!

Can't we just have one thread for flight delays and cancellations?

Why? A single thread would still lead to other threads being started. Also, alongside clear titles, can make people aware of current issues that they may not see in a single thread without going in to read.

Sorry to hear that... who would want to go to MAN? I did think it strange that LBA had escaped earlier cancellations when other domestics had been hit.

EDIT. Although BA is showing the 11.55 to MAN delayed until 14.08

Perhaps people can be disciplined and add their queries and questions into a generic thread rather a scattergun approach.

Moderator note

I have amended the thread's title so make it clearer that today's disruption is more widespread than originally reported.

Having been on the cancelled BA flight from LGW to GLA LAST NIGHT (the aircraft had to divert to STN last night due to fog and subsequently the crew ran out of hours) we have been accommodated overnight at LGW and rebooked on the 1300 to GLA from LHR.

This flight is now showing as over a two hour delay already. My best guess that the incoming flight is the 903 from FRA (operated by a 767). This flight is showing departing FRA on time but a delay on arrival in to LHR of 2h30. Is this likely to be fog related and should we consider rebooking?

Your aircraft is coming in from EDI as the 1441, it's just showing a 10 minute delay ex EDI but a 138 minute arrival delay due to weather at LHR.
