ba.com - 3 Day Avios Flash Sale - Up to 40% Bonus - Buy up to 140,000 [24th -26th]

I'm not sure if this is targeted but for those interested.

Inflate your Avios balance with up to 100,000 Avios (140k = Ģ1615)

There's never been a better time to treat yourself – or someone else. For a limited time between 00:01 hr GMT Tuesday 24 May 2016 and 23:59 hr GMT Thursday 26 May 2016, you'll be able to purchase up to 100,000 Avios and get a 40% bonus, in our three day flash sale.

ETA:

Iberia are also offering the same but at 1800 Euros so that's Ģ1391. To purchase them there you have to have had an account for at least 90 days. You can then transfer them over to BA via Avios.com (If I recall corectly that's how you do it?)

No offer is showing on Avios.com

At 2 cent USD per avios, nah.

Though not of interest to me personally, the IB offer prices an Avios just below 1 pence which I use as a benchmark (though through RFS, I extract usually extract 1.5p of value per Avios). Given recent part pay offer was also at 1p, this isn't a terrible offer.

This is a good offer if you need to top up your balance to pay for a large trip (e.g. using a 2-4-1 to SYD).

These offers are not necessarily good to just buy for buying's sake.

IF you can find availability to Sydney, of course.

With the decline of fares to almost everywhere, I think that buying a ticket might be cheaper than buying the miles to pay the non-tax component of a ticket.

At 1.1p per Avios it's good value compared to 1.4p in a typical 'sale'.

Does anyone remember if the BA Platinum Amex gives 3 points per pound for avios purchases? From memory, because the transaction takes place on 'points.com' rather than 'ba.com', it only gets the traditional 1.5.

I'll do "my" maths again for the benefit of anyone else.

Typical ET flight to say Germany is say Ģ150 is booked reasonably far in advance (peak Friday there, peak Sunday back).

RFS is Ģ35 plus 8k or 9k. So, rounding slightly, 8k save ~Ģ120, thus 1.5p per Avios.

Needless to say, fares can be much higher than Ģ150 and RFS' are still available. Even with the Gold Priority Reward (double avios, 30 days out, guarantees Avios seat), I've saved some serious Ģ. (think my example was a MRS - LHR flight which they wanted €300 for o/w and I got it for 9k and Ģ17.50 instead).

So even if not just topping up, this can be a good deal to get RFS' etc for those not sitting on a mountain of Avios.

Just 1.5points. Not directly through BA.

My BAEC account is HK based, so it forces me to purchase the points in USD. I have used my Iberia account to purchase them cheaper in EUR, and plan to transfer them to my BAEC account. I hope I have done this right....

Odd. I bought some last night, to top up my account, and make use of a 241 to SIN.
The extra Avios appeared in my account straight away (after logging out and back in again twice).

Strange, bought 140K via the UK site and BA Amex, and the points instantly appeared on my BAEC account.
