British Airways will operate daily flights between Heathrow and Abu Dhabi, Doha and Bahrain and a five-per-week service between Heathrow and Muscat.
Customers travelling to Abu Dhabi will be able to fly in the airline’s brand new 787-9 Dreamliner. The 787-9 includes a new First cabin which has just eight seats in comparison to the 14 seats available on other British Airways long-haul aircraft, giving even more exclusivity and privacy to customers.
To celebrate British Airways has sale fares on offer until May 17 with return fares between London and the four cities starting from £349 in World Traveller and £599 in World Traveller Plus.
The sale runs until May 17, 2016 and is valid for travel between October 30 and December 8, 2016 and January 9 and March 21, 2017.

This will make a HUGE difference on the MCT route.
The flight timings are hugely improved, and not being woken at 02:00 at AUH to get hand baggage checked and to let passengers board will transform the experience. I just hope there will be enough pax for the direct route for it to be profitable.

A big improvement for economy travellers!
BA must be hoping for a lot of premium pax; last time I went to MCT in F, most of the cabin got off and on at AUH. I'm uncertain whether that was MCT demand suppressed by the AUH demand shared with the same aircraft, or not much MCT demand at all.

These are very good timings for London-based leisure travellers. I suspect BA Holidays will sell some very premium packages with these flights - Oman has some really top end hotels.

- BA WT £400 return (£350 if in this sale fare is used)
- QR Eco £470 return
- BA WTP £600 - and that's a BA monopoly in that cabin.
So there is a market to be carved up here. And in the economy cabins the quality perceptions are rather different than in the business cabins.

The connecting flights issue is going to relevant for some travellers, the vagaries of ticketing sometimes favour BA, sometimes not given that QR now have a wide range of regional Europe flights. But at the economy level - which, dare I suggest, is most of the aircraft - BA is generally cheaper than QR by around £50 or so. And you will note the WTP sale price, the way it seems to work, looking at September pricing, is
- BA WT £400 return (£350 if in this sale fare is used)
- QR Eco £470 return
- BA WTP £600 - and that's a BA monopoly in that cabin.

However, if both QR and BA were parity for J prices, I would be surprised if someone was to chose BA based on the quality of the QR proposition.
