BA and Apple: 40 custom apps, 17,000 iPads (CSM iPad screenshots)
"Transforming the travel experience from start to finish"
http://www.apple.com/business/british-airways/
Interesting in-depth (promotional) look at how British Airways "improves customer service and operational efficiencies with iOS", including 40 custom apps and 17,000 iPads, covering:
- in-flight iPad enabling customer service
- iBeacon
- "Flight React" app for irrops and rebookings
- "iLoad Direct" for turnarounds
It includes several video explainers which might be of interest, especially those of us interested in what the crew sees on their on-board iPads, as it shows close-ups of the screen clearly displaying which pax have had involuntary upgrades (you can see in the bar at the top WT+ is oversold, the other cabins undersold), connections, which have paid for their seat selections, other requested services, their FF level, staff travel etc. It shows they can sort the list by seat number, last name or CIV score.
NB: The data seen is presumed to be demonstration not real, as it has been published in the public domain by Apple/British Airways.

Cool find! ^^
I should hope this data is not real .... "Mr. Sooooodl" in 2F? I'm not familiar with Indian surnames but that seems a bit of a stretch.
With 40 apps, are staff trained to use all of them? Doesn't that get confusing/overwhelming?

Different Apps for different roles, not everyone needs to know how to use every app. For example within that 40 Figure there are quite a few that are nothing to do with looking after Passengers directly. For example Engineering and Load Planning.

Data looks like it could well be real. Snooo... is probably just a glitch/typo and I actually know someone with the surname Snowball! It's common for first name to duplicate after surname in these systems so I'd guess it was real. In which case, oops!
