Does BA have a wifi?

Do they have a wifi on the flight? Do they have it? On which aircraft is that?

Only BA 001-004, and it's not technically wifi but more of a roaming thing (OnAir).

There are plans to have Wifi on UK Domestic and BA European flights by 2020 but I'm not 100% sure if this is still on schedule.

Long haul, there are no plans I am aware of at present.

Thanks guys! I appreciate that. I think they will have wifi on long hauls flight, if necessary.

Not at present. There's one 747 that was running a trial, but I'm not sure if that is still happening

G-CIVG

I had the pleasure travelling with her LHR-JNB a few years ago.

This young lady can be tracked here:

Happy to be proven wrong, but I think the trial on G-CIVG may have ended. I flew back on her from GRU a couple of weeks ago and, having been keen to try out the wifi, could find/see no mention of it onboard.

If you really need an internet connection on board you have to fly another airline. The AA internet (longhaul and shorthaul) is not bad.

No BA don't have it.

Amazingly even some high level execs at BA have said it isn't possible over the Atlantic at events, maybe they need to sit on an AA plane?

As mentioned they hope to have it done by 2020 on short haul aircraft but I wouldn't expect anything good, they will probably implement 2010 technology then.

I find it shocking they are even taking delivery of aircraft without it on in this day and age. I appreciate retrofitting is harder but still.

Now if somebody told BA bean counters it could reduce fuel burn, weight or generate X % more revenue then they might hurry up but now doubt they are saying customer feedback tells them we don't want it.

The bean counters are not stupid. BA is simply exploiting its captive market. That's not an option for AA as, without wifi, its highest value flyers would simply defect to DL or UA.

This is why I switched my flights to New York from BA to a combination of AA out/BA back. That way I have wifi on the way to the US (and I often need it, for work reasons, and can't afford to be out of pocket for 7-8 hours), and 64A/K on the way back.

+1! It's great to be off-line between airport lounges! I don't want them chasing me at 40,000ft!
