At last! My first BA First

I first flew with BEA in 1959, age 5. It has taken this long, but I finally made it to seat 1A on a 747 LHR-JFK, along with Mrs. nwmgc in 1K.

And I have to say it was fantastic - from check-in, to the CCR, the food and the service. Naturally, I have read every report here - perhaps my expectations were slightly guarded as a result, but they were certainly exceeded. Take heart all of you, like me, who wondered.

That said, I fear I have created a certain expectation for future travels with SWMBO.

I often think that the first few experiences are going to be enjoyable regardless, purely because it is all new. The more seasoned flyers will know all the things to expect and so have higher expectations of what should occur.

My first ever CW flight was an Op-Up on a 3 class 777 to MCO, internal aisle seat. That should be pretty much as bad as it can get for a CW experience as far as I can tell from this forum, however as it was all new to me, I thoroughly enjoyed myself! The novelty of a lie-flat bed, tonnes of storage and a waiter plying me with champagne was enough to wow me.

Glad that you enjoyed it ^

Really well put. Couldn't have said it better. The novelty factor is really key

Great to hear ^

Don't forget to leave feedback on http://ba.com/welldone
Sadly we tend to complain when it's bad and forget when it's good

I do agree - I should, perhaps, have added that I have flown on other airlines so it is true praise!

I do quite often as I hope that the message about what constitutes good service gets through...

I'm in a similar position - I have my first flight in F next month, and am really looking forward to it. Like you though, my expectations are guarded after reading recent posts here!

I flew F on BA for the first time 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. The entire experience was amazing and I could not fault any of it. Just tiny things like the crew seeing your ticket as F as you board and escorting you to your seat and them knowing your surname and coming around to speak to you seemed wonderful at the time (and I had flown J a lot previous to this). Unfortunately, as others here say, you certainly get used to it. Between now and the end of they year I'm doing 4 flights in F, with 2 x BA and 2 x EY. That's when you start finding all the faults and the appeal isn't there, but it's still highly enjoyable, especially if you get to take someone else along to experience it for the first time.

I'm pleased for nwmgc and others who got what the expected/deserved

Perhaps we may fly F again one day on a non-holiday route out of LHR, instead of out of LGW to the Caribbean, for the real F experience
