Very likely. In First on the B744 row 1 is reserved for Golds/Emeralds and IIRC that remains the same for OF/NF sold as CW.

Even if you were GGL and your wife Silver and 1TP away from Gold it would make no difference. 1A/K are strictly Gold seats. Somewhere between T-80ish and Check-in the seats become available for all if they haven't already been allocated.

I knew someone would say something like that! It rather misses the point of my post though
I've not 'gifted' my wife a Gold Card for a couple of years, she earns Gold (as do my kids) in their own right. Even my dear old dad has earned his own Gold this year!
I have no idea who I will gift my Gold and Silvers to, if anyone.
