LHR 25 Oct: Major delays

Baggage computer system has failed. Major delays and flights will depart with hold luggage offloaded.

Thanks for the info.

Around 18:00 lounge announcement that information board system was not working and to listen for verbal gate announcements.

My flight was announced and so headed to gate..
Got to gate for 20:05 JFK flight and heard flight was delayed an hour.

No updates and board just says Please Wait.

The LHR website also unable to display any flight information on any flights. Seems like a fairly major problem.

LHR 25 Oct: Major delays

Currently sitting in the BA1462 scheduled for 8pm. It's 8.25pm now and passengers still trickling in. Pilot notified us to expect major delays due to the baggage and boarding pass scanner systems being down. Just prior to South security, the automatic gates which takes pictures stopped working for quite a while.

Update: pilot just notified us that some bags were going to be left behind. Waiting in queue for ATC clearance as of now.

Re: BA183 20:05 flight
gate announcement just now..
Not much info other than original 1hr delay (21:05) now looks unlikely as we haven't begun boarding yet and it's 20:30

Reminds me of T5's first day and a flight to Prague.. I got my luggage back in June (T5 opened in March).

I got caught up in the very beginning of this, arrived into Stockholm around 30 minutes late but luckily still early enough that the shuttle busses are still running. This being my second attempt at getting to Stockholm, my first was cancelled by ATC phone systems going down a while back (last winter?)

So if I'm cursed to cause problems every time I fly through Stockholm then you should probably be aware I'm flying through here every day until Tuesday now.

From the sound of LHR's website flight information pages, is seems that other airports are affected not just LHR.

Quote:

We are very sorry but live flight information is currently not available.
We recognise that this is key customer information and we are doing all we can to restore the service back to normal as soon as possible.

Each airport has a telephone-based flight information service, which will be unaffected during this period. This is an automated service. Please select 1 and have your flight number or flight time to hand.

The airports can be reached on the following numbers:
Heathrow Airport – 0844 335 1801
Stansted Airport – 0844 335 1803
Southampton Airport – 0844 481 7777
Glasgow Airport – 0844 481 5555
Aberdeen Airport – 0844 481 6666

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

I was going to suggest that it's just airports operated by HAH Ltd that are affected, but STN is not owned by them.

Hope everything gets sorted out for everybody soon.

And to just add to the confusion STN flight info seems to be operational.

Well, STN was the last airport to be sold by HAH Ltd... Maybe it could be a case of them not updating the standard information response to this kind of problem? No idea if that's a sensible suggestion or not.

And all the others mentioned, sorry for the confusion. Looks like HAH is using a generic message which is a few years out of date.

What's the procedure here, assume everyone is who they say they are?
