Unhappy Not a single UK carrier makes it into [Skytrax] world's top airlines

The World Airline Awards best airlines in the world:

1. Cathay Pacific
2. Qatar Airways
3. Singapore Airlines
4. Emirates
5. Turkish Airlines
6. ANA All Nippon Airways
7. Garuda Indonesia
8. Asiana Airlines
9. Etihad Airways
10. Lufthansa

BA does not even make it, shame!

But you're only listing the Top 10. The list runs to 100, and there are British airlines in there.

(BA were #27 last year, up from 2012's #28!)

While some of the top 10 I would dispute there is no surprise for me that BA or VS didn't make it.

personally I would also dispute some of the top ten
and would be interested to know what criteria they use to make these decisions

it should be noted that this is "airline of the year" just one of the many awards there are ok it may be the one award that many airlines strive for but BA ranked quite well in some of the other awards

There are no criteria to be published as this is a pure marketing exercise. Anyone who puts AZ and IB on a top 10 TATL list deserves to be ignored.

Not much of a surprise at all. Slightly surprised Cathay is ahead of Qatar. I wonder if Qantas even made the list at all.....

Does it actually matter? Lists like this are subjective and meaningless. Move on.

These top ten lists, as always, are complete nonsense.

I wonder what the list would look like if it was scaled for "government funded", "private equity" and "plc"?

Well it's not as if government funding per se makes a better transport company, often makes them worse: British Rail for example.

I am not surprised by the list apart from the appearance of LH
