Friday 28 March 2014

The Do will officially start at 6.30 pm
The Buffet will be available from 7.15 pm.
The Wine Tasting Session will start at 8.00 pm.

Guy's Hospital
Great Maize Pond
London SE1 9RT

List of Attendees . You can read more here about the Food details, and the Drinks List which is more comprehensive.

Nearest Station: London Bridge, served by mainline trains as well as Northern and Jubilee underground. Take the exit which is clearly signed Guy's Hospital and follow the green floor signage to direct you.

Head to the main entrance and take Lifts A in the Tower Wing (The Purple Zone as per the attached pdf below), all the way to the 29th floor. The Robens Suite is the only venue on that floor so if you get lost you should get a prize! You can find the Hospital site map here:

http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/re...s/guys-map.pdf

On exiting the lift you will be greeted by two Dragons. Of course entry is entirely FREE but if we could please ask those who are indulging in the Buffet, Wine Tasting option, or both, to bring along the correct amount of cash as that would be very much appreciated. All Debit/Visa/Mastercard's are accepted at the Bar but Amex Cards are not accepted.

Flyertalk British Airways London DO - Friday 28 March - all welcome

Dear Flyertalkers,

You are cordially invited to the next Flyertalk British Airways DO in London.

Friday 28 March 2014

18:30 hours and onwards

Venue: 29th floor (yes there's a view...)
Robens Suite
Guy's Hospital
London Bridge. Nearest tube / rail station: London Bridge.

Follow the signs in both London Bridge Railway and Tube stations to Guy's Hospital. Then in the main lobby look out for the signs, but take the lift to the 29th floor, signed for the Robens Suite.

This venue is best reached by the lifts, there is a cloakroom, WC and full accessibility for the disabled.

It would helpful if you could let us know if you are coming. There's no cost for entry, but there is a cash bar for drinks, a food buffet will be available for which tickets will be sold at £6 a head. Soft drinks and vegetarian food will both be available. See post 3 for details.

All welcome, including lurkers and and companions, whether you fly BA a lot or not at all. I know some people are a little hesitant to go to one of these Do's but they are great fun and it tends to be very enjoyable. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone who regrets going. You can turn up at any time after 18:30 hrs, stay for as little or as long as you want. If past precedent is anything to go by, there will probably be a Post Do Do somewhere late....

Many thanks to gav0106, for opening doors in all sorts of places!

And thanks also to the following for helping this far and have thus been elevated to Volunteered Organiser status!: aks120, angeloedades, chris1979, corporate-wage-slave, LondonAndy, PETER01, pianoamit, Sixth Freedom, SWISSBOBBY.

Food and drink details

Buffet:
There will be a buffet provided, at a cost of £6 a head. It would be very helpful if you could bring precise money! If you are only staying for a swift drink or two then you don't need to pay, but we're assuming most people would want to. We're not looking for precise numbers now but if you are definitely not eating it would be good to know. Note, unlike WTP Kitchen, we have a buffet dragon! Food is available from 19:15 hrs onwards, if you are going to be much later than this but want some food held back, please drop me a PM.

Menu

Rosemary and Lemon Chicken
Lasagne of Mushroom, Spinach and Ricotta (v)
Lamb Meatballs in Italian Tomato and Bean Sauce

with

Beetroot and Apple Salad
Fresh Dressed Greans
Grilled Vegetable Salad with a Basil, Mint and Chili Dressing

Freshly Baked Breads

Cash bar
Usual items, cash and credit cards are accepted.

Wine tasting:
There will be a wine tasting session, hosted by gav0106, for which many thanks. Tickets for this are £10 and include the buffet.

Accommodation options:
For those on a budget looking for handy accommodation, gav0106 has the following note about staff accommodation: We have double rooms with shared shower and toilets/kitchen, but to a high standard with their own sink in room T/C and TV these are £55 per night. There is couple of ensuite rooms with showers, and kitchens for £85 a night. It should be made clear that nurses, of either gender, are not included. Please indicate your interest below or in a PM to me and/or gav0106

Smoking: as the venue is a hospital we need you to leave the premises if you wish to smoke.

The great news is that I'm in London that day, the bad news is that I'm on the 20.10 LHR-ARN... So sorry, can't make it!

Despite being elevated to Volunteered Organiser status (do you get a shiny card with that ) I will be on the train to Bristol that evening so won't be able to attend .

I hope that it goes well, and I look forward to the next one.

Flyertalk British Airways London DO - Friday 28 March - all welcome

With some of the comments about wine I read on the BA board, I worry I might not be able to afford a tasting session
